Surveys and diagnosis
Do you know the location and condition of all your underground infrastructure?
We provide a range of sewer and drain surveys and produce drainage plans for water companies, housebuilders, and commercial sites, to help them manage their pipe network, reduce leaks, and minimise pollution incidents.
Our surveys confirm the location of sewer and drainage pipes, monitor their condition, and identify blockages, areas of infiltration or other issues, so customers can take remedial action or plan preventative maintenance.
We have the equipment and expertise to survey the whole network, from a small drain to a fast-flowing sewer, all within one dedicated surveying vehicle.
A trained surveyor attends every job, carrying out full assessments on site, allowing us to provide the most comprehensive service in the industry. If we can’t survey it, no one can.
Our CCTV rig features:
- 500 metre surveying capability with one set up
- Ability to survey pipe sizes from 75mm upwards
- Pan, tilt and zoom surveys from 150mm upwards
- Steerable crawler units for tight access points and bends
- Automatic height adjustments for increase/decrease in pipe sizes during surveying
- 300 metre link cable for remote access work

Compliance
We carry out both proactive and reactive surveys on pipes and manholes using CCTV, probing and dye testing.
As-built surveys
Build-over surveys
We use CCTV to check the location, structural integrity and flow of pipes prior to building work taking place so a build-over agreement can be put in place if needed.
Sewer and drain adoption surveys
We offer as-built surveys of new sewers and drains using state-of-the-art CCTV technology to ensure they are properly installed and free from defects, prior to their adoption into the public sewer network aligned to section 102, 104 & 185 agreements.
Highway adoption surveys
We offer as-built surveys for highway adoption coloured to the local authority standard, supported by land transfer plans, highway inventories and asset specification inventories where applicable aligned to Section 38, 228 & 278 agreements.
Site investigation surveys
Our detailed surveys help customers understand their drainage and if there is a reason behind any blockages, infiltration, or floods. We plot the size and location of pipes, access points, manholes and interceptors and provide a full drainage plan. Site investigation surveys may be undertaken in advance of building work, to understand network capacity and where existing sewers lie.
Manhole surveys
We can conduct manhole surveys on their own or as part of a wider site investigation. We record the location, depth, chamber size, storage capacity and other data including valves and interceptors as well as check the overall condition.
Connectivity surveys
Where pipe condition is either already known or not required, we can use probes and dye testing to understand how pipes connect and check the flow levels.
Pipework condition surveys
We use CCTV to proactively check the condition of pipework and detect problems before they cause significant issues. We can identify areas of infiltration, root ingress and other structural defects, allowing water companies or private operators to carry out preventive maintenance and mitigate against further damage in the future.
Drainage plans
Drainage plans are advised by the Environment Agency and demonstrate best practice, therefore, having one in place can help reduce fines in the event of a pollution incident. Our comprehensive drainage plans log details of the drainage network on a particular site, including pipes, manholes, interceptors and surface water drainage. This enables operators to quickly identify the location of any issues and implement strategies to isolate and manage them.
Impermeable area studies
Our impermeable area studies identify where rainwater and surface runoff are entering the drainage system. During heavy rainfall, when runoff enters foul sewers rather than surface water drains, it can cause pipes, pumping stations and treatment plants to get overloaded, resulting in CSO spills. We visit each property in a particular area to ascertain whether they are connected to a foul sewer, soakaway or surface water drain, and provide a fully colour-coded diagram for future reference.
Decommissioning
We use CCTV to check the status of old or unknown water or gas pipes, so they can be safely removed.
